Smart Wi-Fi 6 technology!

Having a fiber connection enables you to receive the most advanced data, video, and data services through only one connection!

True Fiber to the Home! Fiber all the way to the side of your home or business, not just to the curb.

Need more Wi-Fi coverage in your home to help get rid of ``Wi-Fi dead zones? Whole home Wi-Fi is now available! (see tab at the top for details)

No Monthly Data Caps, etc.

Whether it's faster broadband speeds or any number of new applications in the future, be assured that you will have a connection powerful enough to meet the demands of tomorrow.

**Delivery of full-package speeds to wireless devices at the home is not guaranteed as many factors affect the wireless signal between the router/access point and device, such as walls, metal, wood, other types of materials and/or structures, as well as age and quality of the customer-owned devices.**

What is Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH)?

Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) refers to the installation and use of fiber-optic cables to carry digital information directly to homes and businesses. These cables are made up of anywhere from 1 fiber to hundreds of fiber optics, which are long, thin strands of pure glass about the diameter of a human hair.

FTTH replaces the duplicate infrastructure that telephone companies previously installed in neighborhoods.  Fiber has a higher bandwidth capacity and can easily transmit applications like telephone, internet, and IPTV with plenty of capacity left over for other applications in the future.

Benefits of FTTH

FTTH provides many benefits to Minford Telephone Company customers including:

  • More Bandwidth – Fiber has the capability to transport virtually unlimited bandwidth.  This will accommodate today’s demand for high-speed Internet connections as well as the advanced applications of tomorrow.
  • Greater Reliability – Fiber-optic cables are less susceptible to the effects from the environment than traditional copper wires (lightning, moisture, power influence…)
  • Future Flexibility – FTTH is considered “future proof” and offers the flexibility to deliver additional services in the years to come.
  • Cost Efficiency – Fiber-optic cable can be made for less than the equivalent length of copper wire and is more durable.

Will anything need to be mounted on my home or business?

Yes, either an outdoor ONT (Optical Network Terminal) housing or a transition box will be mounted to the exterior of your home or business, depending on what type of ONT will be used for the installation.

In addition to the outside box, Minford Telephone Company will provide (unless the option is waived by the customer) a battery backup unit that will be installed inside the home.  The purpose of this box is to provide up to 8 hours of emergency battery backup time for the dial tone only in the event of a power outage at the home or business.  A 24-hour battery backup option is also available, but the customer will be charged for this option.
